Actually, the full name goes "Old Angus Hogandingle McBean"...The "Old Angus Hogandingle" is from a folk song about the sea, and the "McBean" part is because it's Scottish-ISH, as is my husband. Angus is Scottish too, probably so is the "Hogandingle". Anyway, it's just a silly name, and it fits my silly weinie dog to a "T" When we don't call him Angus, or 'Gus, he is known by his nickname, which is "The Goose".

I recommend these names because our family is trying to choose one of these names for our second Dachschund in early Spring, 2009. We will be getting a long-haired female black and tan. We met the Mom and Dad this past weekend and they are "devoted to each other". Mom is extremely social and Dad is very protective and kind of a quiet type. It is very important that we choose a unique name for our 2 year-old long-haired predominately red dapple "Lucy" who has a bit of an attitude at times although very social and loving. She did very well visiting the breeder and socializing with some of the newborns. She was extremely motherly to the pups. We believe that Lucy will just love her younger "sister."

I had my little guy for almost 3 weeks before settling on this name, which honestly hit me from out of the blue. The name suited him well. Shortstop was a beautiful, playful, gentle, loving little boy and besides his mother(me), loud squeak toys and baseballs were his favorite things in life. We said our goodbyes a week ago, just a few months shy of his 19th birthday.

I like this name because it's cute. When my Mom was four and got her new stepmother (my Grandma she didn't like her at first, and called her "Toots" to make her mad (this was in the '40's) Anyway, the name has always made me laugh. As it applies to dachshunds, Tootsie Rolls are long and brown, so there you go!

It was so funny he was 1 year old and was always called Rider but when I went to get him it like he never knew that name existed for him... So Traveler it has been! When we got our duchshund puppy at eight weeks old for my 4 yr old son he was so excited, but the puppy would not stop wiggling so my son would say "stop wiggle" to try to get him too stop wiggling. So we ended up keeping the name of wiggles and his names truely fits because till this day he doesn't stop wiggling at all.
