It is an adorable name because when malteses are sleeping they curl up into a ball like an adorable little cookie. My first little puppy who was a maltese had this name. so cute. unfortunately he was hit by a car... but i think Cookie is a perfect name for a maltese. And our last name was Doh. This is a shortened version of thopogigio the first italian mouse so why not keep the name a little italian since malteses originate from Italy and usually when you give these dogs a bath, they look like big mice but there just so cute and its a fun and easy name for them to remember.

I'm from the island of Malta... which is ACTUALLY where the Maltese dog originated (hence the name!!!)... This is in reply to a comment submitted here, saying that Maltese originated from Italy...yes...SOUTH of Italy, the tiny island of Malta!!!
