Angelus (Angel) is the name of a vampire from both the tv series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the spinoff Angel. I picked the name not only because my kitty is black and white (dark and light, like the character) but also because the little doll loves to perch on my shoulder like my own personal angel. He's also very sweet, quiet, and self contained, both traits the tv character possessed when he was "Angel." Oh, and like "Angelus", he can be quite devious when the mood suits him!

She is named Pearl for many reasons. First, she is absolutely precious. 2nd, pearls can be black or white, and she is both. 3rd, she has a perfect white round spot on her muzzle, like a beauty mark, shaped like a white pearl. 4th, why anyone would ever have let a wonderful cat like her become a homeless stray is 'the mystery of the black pearl'. Also part of the mystery is how she came to be a daily resident of my garden, which is a five hours' drive from where her rabies tag lists her as having lived before. (Her former vet could not locate the previous owners, but they apparently took good care of her.) And 5th, she learned her new name quickly and seems to have forgotten her old name. We tried it out on her and got no response, but she comes running when we call Pearl. :-)
