I always liked the way the name "Misty" sounded, but I decided to wait until I actually met my yellow lab puppy before naming her. Because she had such expressive eyes, the name "Misty" seemed perfect for her... as in "misty-eyed." That was 13 years ago in Dec. of 1995, yet Misty still has those soft expressive eyes I originally fell in love with.
I don't know if the name has any other meaning besides the English definition "filled or abounding with fog or mist."
Considering my girl was named due to her eyes, it's worth mentioning that "misty-eyed" refers to one's eyes being blurred with tears or appearing to be blurred by tears. A second meaning of misty-eyed is "having a sentimental or dreamy quality."
